Malorees - Equalities, Diversity & Inclusion
Our Commitment to Equality, Inclusion and Anti-Racism
At our school, we believe that every child deserves to feel seen, valued, respected and safe. Equality, inclusion and anti-racism are not standalone initiatives, they are fundamental to who we are as a school community.
We are committed to creating an environment where diversity is celebrated and where differences in race, culture, religion, identity, language, family background and lived experience are recognised as strengths. Our curriculum, policies and daily practice reflect our belief that representation matters and that every child should be able to see themselves positively reflected in their learning and in the wider life of the school.
What This Means in Practice
-
We actively review and develop our curriculum to ensure it is inclusive, diverse and representative.
-
We teach children about fairness, justice, empathy and respect in age-appropriate ways.
-
We challenge stereotypes and address discriminatory language or behaviour promptly and thoughtfully.
-
We provide staff training to ensure adults are confident in leading conversations around race, identity and belonging.
-
We create safe spaces where children feel able to ask questions, express their thoughts and share their experiences.
Our approach is proactive rather than reactive. We believe that promoting equality and challenging racism begins with education, open dialogue and a shared commitment to continuous learning.
Our School Journey
We understand that meaningful change is a journey. Please see our school’s ongoing journey to promote equality, inclusion and anti-racism so that our community can see how our work has developed over time. Transparency and reflection are important to us, and we are committed to listening, learning and improving.

Supporting Conversations at Home
We recognise that children may have questions about race, fairness and difference. To support families, we are providing a parent guide, offering practical advice on how to talk to children about these topics in an age-appropriate and constructive way. We believe that strong partnerships between school and home are essential in helping children develop understanding, empathy and respect.
