Online Safety

Teaching online safety

We teach online safety at Malorees in our Computing and PSHE lessons, following Government guidance and the National Curriculum, with age-appropriate lessons from Year 1 to Year 6 that cover issues such as:

  • How to ask a trusted adult for help
  • How social media can shape our online reputation and relationships, and the risks of cyberbullying
  • Privacy, security, copyright and ownership
  • How to spot fake news and images, and other online risks
  • The impact of technology on health and wellbeing

Sharing children's digital lives

It is our view, based on expert advice, that all primary school children are too young to use social media, messaging and other internet content on their own. They are still learning how to understand the risks and consequences of their online activity. That is why we encourage all of our families to share their child's digital life with them, by making sure that our families are always together online

Supporting families

We help families to help their children develop the skills they need to thrive in our digital world, with trusted up to date advice on:

  • Making family digital agreements
  • Parental controls and screen time
  • Monitoring children's online activity

We also help families by recommending expert partners who you can trust, such as:
